As if I needed ANOTHER reason to love The Container Store! They have found the solution to every home owner’s plight of “What’s in that paint can?” with their clear paint pales. Each pale
allows you to see and clearly label every paint you use, keeping them handy for touch ups. Just be sure to store your fancy new paint pales indoors where the temp is controlled year round. Storing paint in the garage is a big no-no; fluctuating climates in Oklahoma can quickly ruin the paint’s formula making the paint ineffective at cover ups.

Noted as one of the “Ten Must-Sees” at the recent Toronto Interior Design Show 2008, Bookseat combines suavely-bent plywood with smart use of space to create an elegant, useful piece. It’ll be available with a felt cushion in customizable colors sometime this spring.
Got a snow day? Improve one room!
submitted by: Jennifer 01/26/10
As Oklahomans prepare to take on yet another fierce winter storm this week many are facing snow days. I call these “Go days”! Its never ideal to be stranded at home but it can certainly have its benefits if you plan ahead. Days like these are perfect for tackling a small home improvement project because you are less likely to be distracted by “Oh! Gotta run to the store,” or carting the little ones around town. Personally I made a trip to my paint supplier yesterday so that I can spend Thursday repainting my laundry room cabinets. So where to start, what to do? Here is Designing Diva’s list of small improvements you can do to banish boredom on a snow day.
~ Sand down and paint/stain a small section of cabinets (think bathrooms, utility rooms, etc). Shop today for supplies.
~ Organize one or two closets. Shop today for labels, containers, hangers, etc.
~ Replace outdated ceiling fans. Shop today for fans.
~ Add fabric trim to boring duvets, lamp shades, valances or pillows. Shop today for trim, a hot glue gun, glue sticks or fabric ahdesive spray.
~ Replace outdated drawer pulls/knobs in one or two rooms.
~ Wash machine-washable window treatments, small rugs and table coverings. You may not realize how much dust has accumulated and dulled the look of your fabric!
~ Replace sink fixtures in two rooms. Shop today for fixtures and all other necessary materials.
~ Clean out the pantry! Spices don’t last forever and your collection may be hogging valuable space.
~ Condition leather furniture. Shop local furniture or hardware stores for leather polish. Follow directions explicitley.
~ Put beds on risers for additional storage underneath. Shop today for risers and clear under-bed containers for seasonal clothing, scrapbooks, etc.
Each of these jobs could easily be completed during the length of a blistering cold day… and they can certainly feel lengthy! My wish for you is that by the time the ice melts at least one area of one room will have new life breathed into it and you can say you accomplished more than just watching the “Design On A Dime” marathon.
Happy Decorating!
