How mod is Oklahoma?

submitted by: Jennifer 07/10/10

Oklahomans aren’t typically known for their tastes in modern furnishings; in fact, any new comer to our traditional state looking for sleek lines and the minimalistic approach to decorating will have a tough time finding retailers to accommodate. But what is that on the horizon…? Its hope!

You may wonder “How modern are Oklahomans really?” and the answer may surprise you. While those homeowners with contemporary or modern tastes usually range in the late 20′s-30′s age group, designers worldwide are creating mod furniture, accessories and fixtures that will appeal to a wide demographic. Designing Diva Interiors is paying attention. By staying on top of new releases in the market I am at the ready to provide my clients with the desires of their heart; from the colorful modular sofas to the monochromatic bedding, its all out there. Below are a few pieces brand new to the scene. I would love to know which piece is your favorite!!

325901-magnus_olesen_i_sitThe Magnus Olesen i-Sit. Ergonomic as it is smart. Created by Design Concern, it features a lumbar pillow and a user-friendly mechanism that adjusts the back and tilt. The shell is constructed of laminated birch, the upholstery is wool, and the tubular steel legs are chromed. Pair it with the complementary ottoman.

338456-moroso_memoryMoroso. Imagine a chair without a fixed shape but with infinite possible forms, ultimately up to the sitter to supply. In a counterintuitive twist, recycled aluminum provides the malleability, while the cotton canvas underneath ensures strength.
