Advice from a painter

submitted by: Jennifer 05/03/10

I asked three local painters to share with my readers a few points they wished our customers knew. Here’s what Edmond-based designer and painter Patti Wommer had to say:

“I have found that clients who wanted to faux paint a piece of furniture with a glaze over the paint have a lot of issues with the result.  I use wood stain over paint and the result is always amazing.  You can have a heavy or light glazing by taking more or less stain off the piece.  Using a rag kept in a baggy after the last job is the best application tool of all.   Van Dyke Brown stain is the color for all jobs if you don’t know what color to choose.  It looks amazing over turqoise blue,  any green, brown, golds, whites, try it over any color.”
