You’ve seen it on the runways, in magazines… and in the 90′s. Neon is hotter than ever and is being used on everything from minidresses to wallcoverings!

Convinced these bold hues aren’t for you? Perhaps you’re drawn in by the cheerfulness of the exotic colors but don’t know how to use them. Here are my favorite small ways to inject this season’s big colors into your home or office:
~ Throw pillows in bright oranges, pinks, yellows or greens. Use sparingly and against subtle backdrops, like a white duvet or neutral colored sofa.
~Accent rugs. Smaller rugs (think 4×6 and smaller) have a little more freedom to be trendy, I believe. Use a fun pattern with neon pink in the guest bathroom or a soft but cheerful neon yellow in the bedroom sitting area.
~Kitchen accessories. Places like Target are coming out with brightly colored tools for the chef in all of us and most can be left out as part of your decor. Think spice canisters, decorative chargers to sit under your plates or votive holders in bright purples and greens along the dining table or bar.
Vases. A staple in any color, more designers are using the season’s throw-back trend in their versions of this classic piece. A tall ceramic vase in neon pink or orange would look stunning against an all-white backdrop (think white walls, white mantle).
Frames. Sure the black frame is like the LBD (Little Black Dress): Classic, timeless, hard to mess up and looks good on anyone. But for a little “POW!” on the walls, frame your snapshots in one of this fall’s knock-out neons.

An unorganized home can cost you in more ways than one. You rummage around for Kleenex for ten minutes before concluding you have none. At the store that evening you buy two boxes only to discover back home that you had five scattered amongst the house. That’s a monetary cost. We all know about the mental cost- hurried mornings, shuffling kids out the door, searching for keys, lost homework, your black high heels that haven’t been chewed up by Fluffy. The holiday season will be upon us soon and nothing adds stress quicker than chaos piled on top of chaos. Let DDI get you organized and ready to take on the fall like a pro! Schedule your consultation by September 31, 2009 for the BUY 1 HOUR GET 1 HOUR FREE special! Contact Jennifer@decorateokc.net to get started. Standard rate: $40 per hour.
